About Joyce Marter, LCPC

Joyce Marter has been a licensed psychotherapist for over twenty years and is the Founder of Urban Balance, an outpatient mental health company with seventeen locations in six states. Marter is the Chief Brand Ambassador for Refresh Mental Health and has served several leadership positions in the counseling profession including Chair of the Midwest Region of the American Counseling Association, President of the Illinois Counseling Association, and two-terms as President of the Illinois Mental Health Association.

As a member of the National Speakers Association, Joyce Marter is a national keynote speaker and international corporate trainer. She pens the Mental Wealth blog on Psychology Today and is routinely consulted as a mental health expert in the media, featured in such outlets as The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, CNN and MTV. In this engaging and dynamic workshop, renown psychotherapist, entrepreneur, and author, Joyce Marter, provides practical and empirically supported strategies to help you and your clients stop setting your own ceilings and promote mental health and financial health. The session includes a PDF workbook of exercises to use with clients to help them shift from thoughts of fear and scarcity to abundance.

Educational Goal:

Learning Objectives:

Participants are expected to gain competency in discussing issues around finances with clients, adapt their therapeutic approach to assist clients with navigating financial issues, and apply therapeutic tools based on financial recovery and empowerment.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

    1. Describe the intrinsic relationship between mental and financial health
    2. Identify a scarcity mindset and describe how to cultivate abundant thinking with CBT
    3. Define and describe the impact of financial trauma and financially triggered PTSD
    4. Integrate at least 2 tools to help improve your clients' psychology of money and empower them to cultivate an abundant life including mental wellness and financial prosperity
