About the Speaker

The presentation will provide an overview of diagnosing OCD in children and adolescents and formulating an effective treatment plan. The emphasis will be on Exposure Response Prevention techniques and avoiding family accommodation. Specific subtypes of OCD that are often overlooked will be included. A review of accessible resources for clinicians will be offered.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify OCD presentations in children and adolescents and to identify common OCD subtypes
  2. Formulate exposures and response prevention plans specific to the individual’s symptoms
  3. Assist parents in fulfilling a helpful role in the treatment and avoiding unnecessary patient accommodation
  4. Identify at least 1 pertinent resource for materials and consultation specific to treating OCD in children and adolescents

Educational Goal:

Participants are expected to gain competency in the diagnosis and treatment of OCD in children and adolescents.
